I didn’t start with a polished business plan or a clear roadmap.
I started with a needle, a dream, and the determination to figure it out as I went.
When I began my bridal alterations business over 30 years ago, I was working day and night. Brides were coming, but the profits were nowhere to be seen! I was overworked, undercharging, and completely unaware of the value I was bringing to the table.
It wasn’t until I started looking at my business through a new lens, not just a skill, that everything changed. I sought mentorship, I built structure, I rewired my confidence, and from there, I scaled fast. I became known across the UK and even overseas for the exceptional experience I gave my brides and yes, my prices grew too. But so did my reputation.

Because I’ve been where you are, exhausted, overlooked, and unsure if this will ever “work.”
And I’ve also been where you want to go, respected, booked out, profitable, and powerful in this space.
The Bridal Seamstress Society is here to guide seamstresses out of the shadows and into the spotlight, with tools, mentorship, and a strong community that helps them thrive.
This isn’t about staying small or working quietly in the background.
This is about building visibility, charging your worth, and creating a name that brides seek out because of who you are and what you bring.
WHO AM I BEHIND THE BUSINESS?
Now for the human stuff!
- I’m a South Asian woman who found her way in a Western dominated industry and never let that stop me from becoming a success.
- I’m dyslexic. So nothing in life or business ever came easy. But I’m a lifelong learner, always improving, always questioning how things can be better and I think that mindset is one of the most powerful tools any woman in business can have.
- I’m known for being warm, approachable, loyal, and kind. I’m not a formal, corporate type.
- I’m light-hearted. I’ll even make you laugh while I teach you how to double your income.
- Outside of work, I’m happiest in my kitchen, cooking for my family or relaxing at home.
- I live in the UK with my husband Usman, who’s been my rock throughout this journey, and our son Adam, who’s 15 and the light of my life.
- We have plans for a new home in Dubai soon.
- And I’m not your typical girly girl. an alpha female if you like, who loves supercars, fast drives, and all things bold.
